The moral of this story? Check the forums for the particular software BEFORE you waste time fucking with things...

a reformat & clean install every now and then is nice anyways (provided you have a reg old windows xp cd). "restore" discs suck ass.

Well... if all goes well, we'll probably be getting new computer stuff in a couple of months. THEN I'll have a fresh install of XP.
