Have you ever been around a morbidly obese person and smelled them? Their smell is what bothers me. Nothing else about them, just the smell. And, I can get over that, if it's not too overpowering. I had a close friend who was somewhere between overweight and morbidly obese. She was like 5'1 and weighed around 320 I'm guessing. We were great friends. She never smelled at all. She showered every day and kept clean. Just because someone is really overweight doesn't mean that they smell. Yes, someone who can't get up off the couch because they weigh 800 pounds is going to smell, but I highly doubt they are going to work a retail job, much less any job because their weight won't permit them to sit at a desk or stand for more than 15 minutes.

The Wal-mart up here hires those people and they smell. The inventory control system up here hires those people and they smell. 300 pounds isn't morbidly obese. Sure, it's obese, but it's not morbidly obese. Shit, with my mixture of fat and muscle and height, I'm approaching obese myself (thankfully, I'm losing the fat) but it's all how you see it. A six hundred pound fat guy won't be able to get all of the folds and they will stink. Typically, if you let yourself go to be that big, you've got no real interest in personal hygeine in the first place. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm sorry, but if you're that short and that overweight, I would imagine you are morbidly obese. I'm gonna go find my BMI chart though just to be sure.300 pounds isn't morbidly obese. There is a calculator at the bottom of the page. Then you take that number and plug it into the chart at the top. The highest it goes is extremely obese and she was well beyond that. http://www.consumer.gov/weightloss/bmi.htm |

haha I just computed my pre-pregnancy weight and I was underweight. I gained 34 pounds since then though so I plugged that in, and I am now within the normal range.... only problem is I'm 9 months pregnant lol

You people fucking make me sick.
Chicken, you're a sorry excuse for a human being if you're going to pin all obese people as being disgusting. It sounds to me like you wouldn't give them the time of day, so how in the flyin fuck do you know jack shit about the person's hygiene? Jim, do the wal mart people smell because they're obese or BECAUSE THEY FUCKING WORK AT WAL MART?. How about skinny people? Do they smell like fuckin flowers or something? I swear this board has sunk to a new low. |

I swear this board has sunk to a new low. I know plenty of people who work at Wal-mart and don't smell, so the correlation is made that fat = stench. And, according to that chart, I'm merely overweight. Go figure. -------------------- ![]() |

I think it's wrong. I mean, if it's not Hooters or something like that, overweight people shouldn't be discriminated against. I disagree, people should be free to choose who they would rather hire. If they don't want a fat person, tough shit. -------------------- |

People should be free to not hire blacks, hispanics, tall people, short people, men, women, kids, fat people, skinny people, smokers, non smokers, drug addicts, religious people, clean cut, super emo goth, whoever the hell they want. Limiting it to only a couple of those is IMHO where the injustice lies. |

That doesn't mean that i don't find his wieght a little revolting. Of course he is a guy and does disgusting things, but the fact remains that being fat is disgusting. Just because I am a turned off to someone being over weight has nothing to do with how i treat them or even how i feel towards them. I simply think that once you reach a certain size, it goes to being a character flaw. By no means does it make you less than anyone else, nor does it make you worse, but it is a flaw. And if someone decides that flaw does not make you right for a job then i see no problem with it. Since 25% of america is over-weight, obviously fat people are VERY capable individuals... that still does not make them any less revolting to look at. -------------------- |

It just seems rather childish to me...
"Mommy, mommy... look how fat that person is." or "Ewww, mommy, that person smells." |

the fact remains that being fat is disgusting. oh this is a fact now? Just because I am a turned off to someone being over weight has nothing to do with how i treat them or even how i feel towards them. you're contradicting yourself in a huge way here... in one sentence you tell how disgusted you are just by being around fat people, and then say that doesn't affect how you feel? WTF? You just told us how you feel! You're disgusted! I simply think that once you reach a certain size, it goes to being a character flaw. And what size is that? By no means does it make you less than anyone else, nor does it make you worse, but it is a flaw. And if someone decides that flaw does not make you right for a job then i see no problem with it. I already told you I agreed with you on this, but that it needs to be across the board with any "flaw" as you so put it. Since 25% of america is over-weight, obviously fat people are VERY capable individuals... that still does not make them any less revolting to look at. Well I guess don't look then. Might wanna get some blinders for whenever you hang out with your "VERY good friend" |

Id say it starts around 400-500. Its those who aren't mobile. -------------------- Southern Rock, beer and bears!

I can agree with that. When you're physically unable to wash yourself then ok, the person will probably smell.

Id say it starts around 400-500. Its those who aren't mobile. I just figured it meant those who are at severe risk of having a heart attack (or other severe medical condition) due to their weight. Plus, 400-500 lbs for what height? I mean, she has trouble sitting in seats and stuff because she doesn't fit.

You'd have to be pretty damn tall to be 400-500 and be normally mobile. I knew a guy who was like 6'7" 425lbs, and he was your normal everyday guy, never smelled weird to me. Yeah, he was enormous, but he was treated no different and in fact was often the center of attention and a overall great guy. And myself, I'm currently 6'4" 340 and don't have any trouble doing every day stuff (yes, including showers, fuckers). Now if I was 5'2" 340 that might be a different story. The point being, all of the above are considered "obese" and it doesn't automatically make any of them disgusting.
