Trust me, as someone who lived in El Paso for 17 years and had several illegal neighbors, they are fat. In fact, I used to play with two kids named Fatima and Felito who lived across the street from me. They up and left with their mom one day when their dad was shot in the head and killed in a drug war. Apparently, he was involved in a drug cartel and got caught in the cross fire of a gun battle. I only say this to give you an idea of how much I was inindated in the culture. Mexicans are a very weighty group of people.

My brother has to be on a strict diet and exercise routine because a medication he takes for his schizophrenia causes weight gain. It's sad. He has a bit of a tummy, but he is so cute. He is able to keep his weight under control better in the summer, though, because he swims every day. It's sad. He needs the meds, though, otherwise he is a nut case.

Actual weight gain. My mom monitors what my brother eats. She sets out very low fat foods and he only gets certain amounts. He only gets one snack in the evening, and it's usually a piece of fruit or some pretzels. The medicine slows down his metabolism like crazy.
