wow.. Ira... come on, now. You're kinda being irrational here. While an increase in price of $10 is not something I want, the service provided to me by AT&T and Apple have been above and beyond what I have ever experienced with any previous cell phone. While I could be complaining about the increase and saying how after all the costs are done, it is the same, if not more expensive than the 1st gen, I prefer to think that the added value of the service is still worth the increased cost. Incidentally, if the 1st and 2nd gen phones are technically the same cost, wouldn't the 3G iPhone be a better value with 3g and GPS included? Additionally, even though I used strong sarcastic language in my original post, impala felt the need to call me a jackass, so I reminded him of his weight and let him know that if he could not afford the phone, there are other options that might be more in his price range, and he is under no obligation to purchase a 3G iPhone. Finally, in general I see posts on the Internet complaining about AT&T lock in, or the cost of the phone, and they always reek of jealousy or ignorance. Phone lock in has been a common practice with hot item/new phones since the beginning of the cell phone industry. Smartphones have always costed a premium in addition to expensive data plans, this is also nothing new, for instance, a new blackberry pearl on the AT&T network would cost you from $200-$100 dollars after mail in rebate, then $35 for a blackberry data plan (this is just data, not including minutes), however there is no outrage over this. Why not, isn't it technically more expensive than an iPhone? -------------------- FUCK YOU

Their marketing worked great on you bud. Kudos to Apple. Yes, god forbid I like a product enough to want to upgrade. The car I have now works fine, why should I ever want to get a better one? Kudos to that car company for making me want a better car. And I'm pretty sure he called me a jackass before I used my fancy words. I'm playing along for now because I'm bored, nothing I say will make him less ignorant, and nothing he will say will make me less likely to buy the new iPhone (kudos to apple for making a decent phone) However, no response to the fact that other smartphones are more expensive to buy and more expensive to get service for? I'm not sure where the marketing mumbojumbo factors in when you look at the numbers and make a comparison between smartphones. -------------------- FUCK YOU

Dude, all I mentioned was that the price of the plan for the new iPhone is going up $10. I thought it was relevant to the discussion. Apple/AT&T did a good job, because they'll sell way more of them at $199, and yet make the same amount of money per phone/account. Even the resident openly gay apple lover said "THAT'S FUCKING GAY!!!".
And if you're gonna get that butt hurt about the order of the posts, why don't ya scroll up and see for yourself. Sheesh man, this nipping at my heels like a little rat dog is getting old. |

It's so fucking gay.
Right now I am paying $30 a month for my iPhone's unlimited data and the 1500 text messages...which means if it's along similar lines, I will be paying $40 a month for my data and the same number of texts as I am getting now. |
