Will, you really are ignorant sometimes. If you want to talk about stuff we told each other, you said yourself that your business classes were pointless. I would venture to say just as "useless," if not more so, than my philosophy classes.... for obvious reasons that I won't say so as to avoid the low blows.
If you still think that all a philosophy class teaches is how to "think things through" then you are even more ignorant. In fact, that's really not what it is about at all. Philosophy, in my opinion is a mix of English, history, and math. I like all three a great deal. In my classes, we were graded on our grammar, spelling, and punctuation in the papers we wrote = English. We had to learn a great deal about great thinkers in the past like Frank, Descartes, Locke, Rawls = history. Finally, logic is math without numbers. It's basically balancing giant equations = math. I have it in my mind to post a paper or two I wrote on metaphysics. You read part of one once and stopped because you said you didn't understand it. It's not that it doesn't make sense. It's that your mind couldn't grasp the concepts. (I know this because I got an offer to the grad program from the philosophy dept for the very paper I had you read)

I don't get "butt hurt" by ANYTHING you say. Trust me on that one.

My business classes WERE useless sorta. They were teaching me less about business (you know, the goddamn reason I went to college) and more about how to study well. I learned how to study in high school; that's the point of high school, to prepare you for college. And I'm not talking about entry level freshman classes; these were junior and senior level marketing and economics classes. If you're expecting me to defend my major I won't. Marketing is an easy major. I just never really tried since my reaction to learning the material was usually "I've known that for years" or "well duh"

Accept that a starting position with a newspaper is in the 33-38k range. Psychology starting pay is at 22k if I remember correctly. I'm sure there are 9 other degrees you could fit in between those numbers...Hell an internship with a newspaper pays about as much as the starting pay for a bachelor's in psychology gets. This is based off of some average pay article I read a while back that said psychology was the lowest.

Why anyone would waste money going to college with that kind of attitude is beyond me...I don't see a point in college either for most degrees (exception is engineering, nursing, architecture) except to have the certificate that gets me in the door to jobs. I didn't learn too much that I probably couldn't have figured out on my own by reading books, but that's any liberal art degree. I guess I see my degree as a hell of a lot more useful despite having spent 40k on it in three years than the probably 100k your parents spent sending you to school for 7 years to not get a degree. No matter who spends the money, the money is still spent so don't rub in my face that I spent 40k when lord knows you spent a hell of a lot more and lived a lot more comfortably while in school. If that were me, I would have felt guilty not finishing. I didn't like college at all either. That's why I hurried my ass up to get out of there. I didn't BS around for almost a decade. And I'm really not trying to be rude. I'm just trying to make a point. A degree is more useful than no degree to the greater population. Yes, there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Working for a major newspaper which is possible if a student interns while in school, that is the pay. I know it because I have researched jobs at the Austin American-Statesman, San Antonio Express News, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, etc. Working for a small town paper out of school, you can expect upper 20's, lower 30s.

His music can be heard in Whole Foods stores, Live Earth concerts, or blasting from the speakers of open-topped Jeeps parked on curbs everywhere.
