I got fired from what? I've never been fired in my entire life. Pull your head out of your ass.
Also, if you'd have fucking read at all what I said, I said the previous state government agency wouldn't even hire somone for a counselor position ***WITHOUT A MASTERS DEGREE IN PSYCH, SOCIOLOGY, ETC**** and that I was making as much as they were starting out as a computer tech. What a valuable degree to get.

This effecticley means people who get a 4-year BA in those fields have worthless degrees.

just because you get a degree that isn't an expensive technical degree and don't immediately being working doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID IN COLLEGE doesn't make it useless. Christ, having a BA still opens plenty of doors and opportunities, and while I learned content, i also learned skills that I can apply in many fields. college doesn't have to be vocational training in order to be useful. Fuck the first part of any job is generally learning how to the job their way, and regardless of your degree that on the job training is a huge element.

because not all of us are math/science minded. Just as so many of the engineering students I work with can't write a decent essay to save their lives and struggle with communicating basic ideas.

I didn't want to spend my career in a technical field, I am people oriented. I went for English Lit and Philosophy because they engaged me and required me to think in ways that I wasn't used to. I enjoyed it, and I knew that I was going to use my degrees to do something else, whether it be grad school or law school, because I wanted to be able to understand concepts quickly, to adapt the ideas and see bigger pictures with them. I know you do similiar things in your work, but just dont' tell me that everyone has to go to college to get a degree where they are going to be working in a technical field because that would devalue your degree. You're generalizing and so am I, but I am using my degrees every day, and have been nationally recognized for what I do through my position.

Also, maybe so we don't end up with jobs that make us work in Vernal Utah? Just kidding about that one though, even english majors fuck an eskimo once in awhile.

I think we're straying from the main idea here... keyword being "Worth". If we're talking in terms of cash money, I think in general the list is correct. It's not targeting you specific people who have those majors and saying you do not make decent money. It's giving a list of the 10 most worthless majors. In other words: The 10 majors that make the least amount of money. As in, sum up all the people in X major and compare their income to all the other ones.

I'm sure there are plenty of examples on both sides of the coin, Nuclear Physics people on the streets begging for money (well, maybe), as well as Philosophy majors who are in the Fortune top most wealthy people. To the 2-3 people on here getting huffy about their major being listed, just take it as a compliment to yourself that you succeeded where some often don't.

Actually there's a lot I like about Vernal .... it's just that the one thing I don't like about it is really important
