And if you're the typical McCain supporter...and Old Man Alzheimer is elected...

God save us all.
still... better than Obama

My distaste for Obama grows by the day. Lately, his supporters (mostly not talking about any of you) have been pissing me off. It's like the fact that I am supporting McCain drives them crazy because heaven forbid I am not up Obama's ass like everyone else my age. I DON'T LIKE THE GUY. I don't walk around town telling people who hold Obama signs why they shouldn't vote for him, but I guarantee if I held up a McCain sign, I would be taken out back and lynched until I agree to vote for the Obama. Yeah, I will argue on here about it because it's a messageboard of ideas, but seriously, the man isn't god. His ideas aren't anything life changing. His entire stance is "change" yet I really am not seeing all that much that he wants to change except minor things that have no bearing on me. Universal healthcare? Yeah, he doesn't have a very solid plan for that, Obama supporters, but whatever. Pull us out of Iraq? Ok, you do that. You'll see how big of a mistake that is. I don't consider myself Republican and I am certainly not a Democrat. I like to think of myself as middle of the road. I vote for whoever I feel is better for our country. Someone who disrespects a group of Americans, someone who shows little to no patriotism, someone who attended a church with backassward ideas is not who I feel is best for our country. You have to give me this: McCain has a hell of a lot more patriotism and love for this country than just about any other candidate in recent years. He also seems like a really nice man. Some Congressman was on his deathbed for months with cancer, McCain visited him once a week until he passed away. Not a single other member of Congress ever visited him. I like someone with good core values. I'll stick with McCain so LEAVE ME ALONE about it.

This maybe slightly off base, but judging someone based on their values is about as shallow as judging someone based on their looks. I'm not sure it has much bearing in the world of politics, at least not politics nowadays. In reality we have no idea what these people's real values are, an in fact if the values they choose to present reflects that of your own, who's to say everyone should have such values. Critical of one's country does not equal lack of patriotism, just as much as unbridled love for one's country does not equal patriotism (more a long the line of nationalism). And frankly, my president does not have to be nice.

Are you kidding me???? Seriously... have we degraded as a people that much that we don't expect the leader of our country to be not only an upstanding citizen but also a good person???

Critical of one's country isn't unpatriotic, but not putting your hand over your heart for the national anthem or the pledge (I forget which exactly it is that he refuses to do) is certainly unpatriotic in my book.

and let me add that I think it's funny that Obama supporters aren't stepping up to say what good Obama has done, but instead are saying the President doesn't have to have good core values.

I think the definition of patriotism is debatable and a personal one.
