they better not touch the Green River Formation. i'll pay $20 a gallon if it means not touching that area.

well i won't. Plus the way the US drills for oil is much less enviromentally devistating then in foreign countries.

You're probably talking about the Pinedale Anticline....that's not even really "near" Yellowstone, but a bunch of enviro whackos are claiming it's part of the "Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem" when it's really that a bunch of rich ass actors and billionairs got sick of Jackson Hole being such a tourist trap so they all bought ranches and land in "Wannabe Jackson" and have been doing everything they can to buy off state senators and local federal employees to stop development of the fields around there ...

Hmm I didn't find Jackson Hole a tourist trap, but there are some real yuppies who don't know shit about the way the world works there.

Dude, there's maybe 5,000 people that actually live in Jackson. Have you ever seen a town of 5,000 people have 3-hour long traffic jams? unsure.gif

Go there from June - August, but especially August, and you will literally have traffic jams that last for hours ... and the population of the city of Jackson is something north of 5,000 people if I remember right ... it takes like an hour to drive from one side of town to the other.

I find myself driving slower on the freeways now. I just set my cruise control to 60-65 and say, "Fuck you if you think I am going too slow."

You do realize that MPG is based on RPM and not speed, right?

Rising oil prices likened to the 1999 dotcom boom. The article points out the issue with the traders.

Not entirley. It's based on engine load ... with fuel injected vehicles, they can actually operate at a given RPM on varying amounts of fuel ... it's kind of a new thing with modern engine control.

For instance, I can tow my snowmobile trailer at 65 mph behind my pickup in the same gear it would normally be cruising in at 65 at the same RPM .... I'd get about 16 mpg unloaded, but with the trailer I'd get about 9 ...

My old truck I used to get 21 mpg at 65 mph, at 75 I'd get 17 ..

You also have to take into account wind resistance on a vehicle increases exponentially with speed, which causes more load to be put on the engine ...
