I don't know how having a tattoo could set a bad example. I come from a very strict Christian family, but my family has tattoos and stuff. My mom got a tattoo when I was 15. She took me to get my first body piercing when I was 15. OK so even if I keep all my tattoos in places that are more discreet, my children are still gonna see them eventually. The one on my back can still be seen with certain shirts on. Plus, like I said, my husband has a considerable amount of tattoos on his chest and sides. Is he never gonna have his shirt off? Hell, he has had his nipples pierced since he was 16. His parents let him take his 14 year old brother to get his pierced. Both him and his brother are well-behaved, respectful, etc. The way I see it is tattoos have nothing to do with moral standing and are something to be discussed. I wouldn't have a problem with my 18 year old getting a tattoo as long as they got it done responsibly. That's just me though

not really. people change their fundamental ideals in life all the time. people go from being religious to not, or vice versa. or being an alcoholic to clean or vice versa. if you think tats are great when you're young but then don't like them when you get older, you're still stuck with them. i'm sure that may change at some point though (better/easier ways to remove them). And you have to remember that all of us posting on here aren't 18 and 19 years old. I'm 23 and didn't get my first tattoo until I was 22. I thought long and hard about it and decided that so long as I am careful about what artwork I put on my body that I will not regret it. Even if I were to change my religious beliefs back to a more strict Baptist belief, that wouldn't change my feelings on tattoos. Yeah, I'm still young, but I know what I want in life, I'm going there, I have a family now, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I have good solid judgement on a lot of things and I happen to think tattoos and piercings are acceptable.
I think "good example" is completely objective really. So yeah his statement might be a little too generalized but it works for him. right it is a generalization and no better than rabble's generalization. |

again i didn't associate having tats with being a bad example. just that it's possible for a person's thoughts about them to change later in life. 18, 19, 22, 23, doesn't really matter. a person who likes tats probably isn't going to change their mind between the ages of 18 and 23. when a person is 50 they might feel differently about it.
i suspect it will be a moot point by the time we're all 50 though as i'm sure they'll have some easy way to remove them by then. |

I agree with you to an extent. I'm just saying that if we lived our lives not doing anything that we could possibly regret when we are 50, I think life would be rather boring. And so long as I don't get a tat anywhere that is going to wrinkle up and sag, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Oh and nothing on my face or hands.

BULLSHIT, I GAVE YOU THAT IDEA! OR WAS MY IDEA GETTING THE SYMBOL FOR "HAND" ON YOUR FOOT AND VICE VERSA? No no. I am positive I came up with that idea on my own. You added to it by saying that I should reverse it, but I know I came up with it on my own.

woah, I didn't mean getting a tattoo was setting a bad example, I guess I wrote it wrong...
I meant that getting a tattoo somewhere might seem like a good idea now, but depending on your future situations might not work out well. I.E. Girls with tramp stamps won't ever be able to wear some open backed dresses if they want to look "formal" and not slutty when they are older (30-40+) as with getting something down you arm might prevent someone from wearing short sleeve shirts in some situations. Stuff like this. Additionally, a huge "get r done" will also be a retarded design decision. As for setting an example for your kids, a tattoo can be great art or complete rubbish, kids have a problem distinguishing these things. Especially in the "rebelious" phase of their life, as in, "they have one, I should be able to get one too!" I dunno, I wouldn't get one, but I know people who have ones that are nice, and people who have ones that are trash. -------------------- FUCK YOU

WTF kinda keyboard do you have!??!? haha my husband's laptop keyboard has a number locks function. He uses it when he plays WoW. The first time I got on his computer after he played WoW and I started typing... I was like WTF is wrong with the keyboard...everything was all retarded. It took me a good while to figure out that there is a FN+Number Lock thing to get back to normal typing. It's kinda neat this computer setup we have right now. I took apart the desktop so my husband hooked his laptop up to the big monitor and to a mouse and keyboard and then extended the screen... I can look at two pages at once. He plays WoW on the monitor and has the internet open on his laptop screen. It's neat. I can type with either this keyboard or the laptop keyboard. |
