i'm just not keen on tearing up some of the most beautiful portions of land in the lower united states. i think it runs right through yellowstone. mountains and rivers sort of lose their mystique surrounded by oil rigs.

Dude the green river formation is mainly northeastern utah and western colorado .... it's nowhere near yellowstone. And it's under 6-9,000 feet or so of overburden in most places we drill into it  heh

You're probably talking about the Pinedale Anticline....that's not even really "near" Yellowstone, but a bunch of enviro whackos are claiming it's part of the "Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem" when it's really that a bunch of rich ass actors and billionairs got sick of Jackson Hole being such a tourist trap so they all bought ranches and land in "Wannabe Jackson" and have been doing everything they can to buy off state senators and local federal employees to stop development of the fields around there ... -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

so maybe not right through yellowstone, but in the vicinity. and still through some of the most beautiful parts of the country. i didn't move to this area (roughly) to see it ripped apart.

There's a Shell research lab out in the middle of nowhere kinda by Meeker, Colorado I used to drive by on the way to work every day ... you'd rarley even see parked cars out there. That just adds what, another how many thousand feet to the well you're trying to drill?  There are places that some consider "in the mountains" that limited drilling occurs. Portions of the Wyoming range in southwestern Wyoming are being proposed for new exploration, but the proposed areas is something like less than %1 of the Wyoming range as a whole, and it's most assuredly "not on top" of the mountains. It would be more like in one small area of the foothills. I've lived in the rockies my entire life except for the 2.5 yers I was in texas, and I have yet to see an oil derrick on top of a mountain. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

I'm not going to insult anyone's intelligence by saying there's no "environmental impact" by developing an oil or natural gas field. What I will say however is that the "impact" is grossley exaggerated by opponents of developments, and they come up with the most outlandish rediculous reasons that development should be suspended or never allowed in the first place it just boggles my mind. -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!
