I hate to see a young girl commit suicide, but this is complete bullshit. The lady made a myspace page and "bullied" the girl and now faces 20 years in prison!!???! Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this?

i didnt read the article, but i dont agree with 20 years, no. and i doubt that would happen.
realistically, i would say involuntary manslaughter or something. -------------------- ![]() |

She's under indictment for falsifying information when obtaining her MySpace accounts (against the TOS). -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I think it's treading very dangerous waters to start indicting people of "making" someone else to commit suicide.
looking at the indictment pdf, here's the gist of what it says: QUOTE 1. Sept 20, 2006 defendants created a myspace account for a 16 year old boy named "Josh Evans" and posted a pic (from the way it reads, he's not a real person, just one they made up) 2. Sept 22, 2006 defendants used the account to contact the girl, the exact message said that she was "sexi." 3. Sept 24, 2006 defendants sent another message inviting the girl to touch the "snake" of "Josh Evans" 4. Sept 26, 2006 defendants flirted with the girl 5. Oct 7, 2006 defendants told the girl "Josh Evans" was moving away 6. Oct 7, 2006 defendants induced the girl to write: "aww sexi josh ur so sweet if u moved back u could see me up close and personal lol." 7. Oct 10, 2006 defendants induced the girl to write: "Heyy babe!! Call me sometime 636 [xxxxxxx]! Its the cell. i love you so much." 8. Oct 16, 2006 defendants messaged the girl, in substance, that the world would be a better place without her living in it. 9. Oct 16, 2006 after learning the girl had killed herself, defendants deleted the myspace account. What really disturbs me here are #6, #7, #8. They "induced" the girl to write those things??? |

She's under indictment for falsifying information when obtaining her MySpace accounts (against the TOS). I thought violating the terms of service usually got you kicked off whatever service you agreed to... not indicted of federal crimes... -------------------- ![]() A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have. |

and what kind of loser meets a "bOi" online, gives them their cell phone number, and tells them that they love him 18 days after he sends her a message?
She had serious social and emotional issues, obviously, as do most people that kill themselves. I would argue that you could not prove that her suicide was caused directly by the events on MySpace, but by her unhealthy psychological tendencies. -------------------- ![]() A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have. |

yeah i think i remember reading that she had some problems.
in any case, the woman should at least get some kind of probation or community service stuff. that's just sick that a mom would do something stupid like that. -------------------- ![]() |

this topic almost calls for resurrection of the Pussification of America thread... YAHTZEE! I feel no remorse that this girl died. Call me an asshole, I don't care. If you're fucked up enough to blow your brains out over a Myspace prank, good riddance. One less weak minded psychologically buttfucked loser in this world. Once we thin the herd and get rid of these invalids, maybe America will become great again -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

I go both ways on this issue.
Americans are a rude and mannerless group of people. That needs to change, but I don't think it's up the government to set us straight. |

people have killed themselves after emotional torment from people before, it just usually wasn't in writing so its tough to prosecute.
i actually remember reading an unverified account that the girl had threatened and attempted suicide before as well. shitty situation, not sure how i would proceed if i was in the jury/was the judge. |
