iPhone sold out
http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/ptech/05/12/i...t.ap/index.html
QUOTE
SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Apple Inc. says its online stores in the U.S. and U.K. are sold out of the iPhone, a sign supplies are being winnowed ahead of the launch of the device's next generation that will feature faster Internet surfing speeds.

The Cupertino-based company has confirmed Monday that the iPhone is out of stock online, but adds that brick-and-mortar stores run by Apple and iPhone carriers including AT&T Inc. might still have units available.

Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris has declined to comment on reasons for the shortage and on Apple's plans for an update to the device, which is widely expected to be unveiled in June at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

hmm... so apparently the new phrase for "discontinued" is "sold out"

I don't think they anticipated their supply running low this close to the release (they were hoping to make it closer). Or we're going to see the new model sooner than later.

most PC laptops do that. The Gateway I am on does that. My POS Compaq from about 5 years ago did that. My SUPER POS HP didn't do that though, and I bought that like 3.5 years ago. I kinda like the feature, but at times I accidentally click when I just mean to move the mouse cursor.

interesting, though i can see getting crap for trying to do it.
i think the day where you can do stuff like this with credit card and license will be a good day.

they already do this officially with airline boarding passes. although I dunno about the security of allowing it for stuff like credit cards and such. i guess i'm not just huffing and puffing every day with rage over the six or so cards in my wallet.

interesting idea though. although not really an iPhone specific ability.

If you wanted to come into my pool and you showed me your membership card on your iPhone instead of pulling it out of your wallet, I would punch you in the balls and set your mullet on fire.
