100mpg is pretty damn awesome. the fact two young brothers did what car manufacturers havent been able to do is also pretty damn awesome

Cat, you have to keep in mind that car manufacturers have strict guidelines to maintain and warranties to serve, etc. Most of the time when someone modifies their vehicle for some type of performance enhancement, it's at the exchange of something car manufacturers do to that enhances the life/safety/operation of the vehicle.

Yeah it does.

But, this gives me an EXCELLENT idea.

I'm going to start an entireley new aftermarket industry for hybrid cars, only the "performance gain" for the mods I'm going to sell are going to be to increase fuel economy.

So, if you do my full package, and add up each MPG you save by doing my mods, you'll get 100 mpg.

It'll be sort of like doing air intakes, exhausts, all that on race cars, but in order to actually get the power that each mod claims to add you're going to have to put a cam in it that's so wild it only operates at 5500-7500 RPM ...

I'm sure I can do the same thing with a hybrid and get it to get 100 mpg, all I have to do is culmulativley de-tune the thing about %50 laugh.gif'

But, seriously cat, I can go buy a brand new 7,000-lb diesel truck and "mod it out" so it gets the same MPG as your car does. Surley, as with these two teen brothers, I should win a fucking nobel prize for this or something .... laugh.gif

I didn't say it did. You said it was something that "car manufacturers have been unable to do" and I just thought it was worth a mention.

the car was a plug in and got better fuel efficiency. it didnt turn the hybrid into a monster truck like dogmeats dumb idea of adding exhausts etc (which would decrease efficiency).

the car was still "green" i guess is how to say it so you can understand

It was funny. I get 40mpg and I'm glad to get that.

Sorry the humor is dead in this forum.

Cat I didn't say that they modified it to make it a monster truck or did anything of the sort. I said that car manufacturers have certain guidelines they're required to follow. There might have been tight safety tolerances on some electronic component that they beefed up which made it more efficient, but perhaps not quite as within safety tolerances as toyota had to meet. Just don't act like the car makers are idiots because some kids modified their car to make it better. People have been doing that ever since cars were invented.

Cathryn, you will _NEVER_ win an argument with me when it comes to the technical merits of creatire more fuel effecient vehicles.

Seriously, save yourself the trouble and don't even try.

Well how about instead of just whooping out with "all car makers are idiots" you enlighten us as to why you feel this way? It kinda promotes conversation.

conversing with you guys is boring

most car makers are stupid. the stupidest ones are american car makers. a pretty good sign of this is how they are doing economically. "oh but its just the times, the recession, gas prices". other car companies are doing great! Toyota for example. they have a pretty nice increase recently

american car companies need to clean up their act and work with (or against) unions better
