You guys need to pull your heads out and realize that american oil companies do not set oil prices. remember back about 15 years ago when gas was like $0.80/gallon? that was back when we produced enough oil for ourselves, and even exported some. well now that we're not allowed to drill to feed the expanding need for oil, we have to import something like half of what we consume. importing = expensive.

so don't act like some dude at exxon just has a profit dial and an evil look on his face as he cranks it. it's muhammed abbabbabbajab towelhead over in saudi arabia with his 500 ft yacht and 400 bentleys that's making you pay more at the pump.

less than 20% comes from the middle east....most comes from canada and South America

you can blame prices on china and india more than the middle east.....

Explain this further ...

How do you tax and/or give a tax break for "exploration and drilling" ....

What taxes on these specific operations are there? I'm not dbouting it, I'm just not aware of the specifics ...
Yeah, I got fired.

Now I'm working with their research and product development people.

The oil firms are given tax breaks on barrels of oil they produce, these barrels are sold to refineries all around the world, there is a tax break given to the companies. Since this happens on the upstream, I just labeled it exploration and drilling.

There are a few incentives for refineries and downstream processes but definitely not the same as the upstream stuff.

The last refinery I was at was a pure downstream operation and they were hurting, really, really bad. They are having to pay the high cost for a barrel, just to refine it, and pump it back into the market for a slight profit.

well, you say you are going to have 2 degrees. besides psychology, what is the other one? you are acting awfully vague and I'm just curious. I'm not trying to use it against you!

and what the shit... I had sigs turned off and i turned them back on, and you have something I said quoted....

Thats taken totally out of context btw!

I love black people....much more than Mexicans

JUST KIDDING...oh god more ammo for your sig

For the record, I want to lay out there that I am not racist against Mexicans, blacks, Arabs, or any type of people. I don't like people that make stereotypes so true. Like if it's stereotypical that blacks talk loud and get in your face a lot.... I don't like people like that. It makes people prejudice against their people....or rather, gives them ammo. Just like a black judge told everyone in his courtroom who wasnt black to leave them courtroom and then he told all the blacks to stop committing crimes because it makes all of them look bad. Thats how I feel. White people are known for being racist and pig headed. I hate people that really are. I hate my estranged grandparents who threatened me that I better not ever marry a "dirty spick or nigger". They adhere to that stereotype of the racist white man.

I speak jokingly about hating blacks and mexicans and arabs (although i dont think i have ever said too much about blacks at all) but the truth is many of them are great leaders, many of them are great people and contribute more than I ever will to society. I just dont like stereotypical people.

we didn't drill ourself then cause it wasn't worth it to drill. And we pretty much imported from a US friendly south america.

we didn't drill ourselves back then because we didn't need to. we were actually exporting oil. and it doesn't really matter how friendly the people are that we import from. importing is buku more expensive.

well this is true, but either way the reason our prices are high is because we have to import in the first place. We didn't used to have to import any oil.

oh boys, just because you dont agree does not make the other person stupid or cited sources invalid

going by the population on this forum you would think i'm the person that discovered global warming and the only person thats ever heard of it!

orrrr its just that the guys on here who represent a pretty broad range of male stereotypes believe a woman has to have at least 2 phD's to know what the shit they are talking about.

but either way the shtick is getting pretty old.

i dont see how political/environmental etc discussions cant get "heated" or controversial without someone going "youre just a dumb bitch!" or "you dont know what you are talking about" all while ignoring any actual content

and yes i know im still opening myself up for a firestorm but im serious. its just about at the time that every single person on this forum is a college graduate and onto their careers and graduate schools. so you are desperately losing time until you wont be able to use "well you dont know what you are talking about"

I think I called you a dumb bitch like a week or two ago, but I was having a bad day that day. I try to keep my arguments with you more substantive than they used to be. Although I do still think you're a dumb bitch tongue.gif *kidding*

i wasnt trying to pinpoint you out that just came up to mind as statements that are thrown around here. and thank you for that and ive been trying to be lax towards you as well

i was going to go back and delete my post because its just too tiring getting the same old response but since you quoted it ill just do a quick summery - i think everyone should be nicer and more willing to discuss issues without cutting someone down. because everyone on this forum knows a little more about something then the next person and so on and so on. thats how life is

Cat we were not discrediting you. We were not being sexist. We were not calling you a dumb bitch. All we were doing was making fun of your extensive use of the word "most" wink.gif

it's more like, YOU think you're the person that discovered global warming and the only person thats ever heard of it.

thats what drives me to work you into a frenzy. we get it, we understand. but your accusations of overgeneralization without providing proof, and the extensive use of the word "most" without providing any sort os statistical citing are what cause us to not listen to you and decide instead to attempt to ruffle you up.

The US pretty much never exported oil, only during pre ww2 did it. I've worked in the Oil Industry and Dogmeat would be a good resource.
