*sigh* if one person could do that and it would help, I'm sure it would have already been done. Also, people aren't making that much money....enough to relieve the whole country of gas prices. I would much rather spend my money on something that will actually make a difference.... also, with a lot of money comes a lot of financial responsibility. I think that is what you fail to realize.

and as already stated, the oil companies have no control over gas prices UNLESS THEY DRILL SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Hence why people are saying that it would be nice if we could drill in Alaska...or now possibly Brazil.

And yes, I have heard of people donating millions... donating millions to cancer research, to feeding the starving children in Africa, to finding a cheap alternative fuel.... NOT TO HELPING THE AMERICAN PUBLIC PAY FOR GAS. Even if companies donated billions, it would only be a temporary fix and ultimately a waste of money that could have been used for something more productive. Hell, IMO using the money for personal gain (cars, homes for CEO's) is a better use of the money because, in the end, at least there is something that can be shown for it.

The world is a fucked up place, Cathryn. Things aren't as hunky dorey and as fixable as they seem to you.

no one is going to willingly donate their money to lower your gas bill....
so you want it to be required that people with money donate it to ease the gas cost of people without it.

why don't you go ahead and increase their welfare checks.... hell, i made an extra $150 in commissions for working harder this week, why don't you take that and give it to someone else?

and lets recap. you want rich people to give their money to poor people, with no incentive, so that the poor people will have an easier time paying for gas.

you're OBVIOUSLY planning on saying "pretty please with sugar on top?" and they're gonna say "sure cathryn! i'll give away my hard earned money!"

Those people who donate millions do not typically do it out of charity....the do it for the fat tax cuts they are going to get.....it is that many millions of dollars that is not taxed on them, and they get huge breaks for it.
