Ehh if you say so man, insurance aside, you have to look at what you get for how much you are paying. Once you jump up from the "economy" to "luxury" cars you start paying double for the same features, the engine in one is the same as the engine in the other, the chassis are essentially the same. It seems like a waste of money to get a base model luxury car when you could get basically the same car with a different symbol on the hood for half the price.

If you're talking about buying a speed machine then I've got nothing to say to you aside from the fact that 99% of the time you won't use any of your "super speed" don't forget that it will probably need the premium gas and have only marginal fuel efficiency. If you want to commute in that then that's your deal.

I'm trying to give practical advice because if I know anything, its that people buy expensive cars to show off and get laid, but you don't need to spend 45k on a car to get the clap from some cheep floozy.

YOU'RE FORGETTING "SMALL PENIS" INSURANCE

when you gotta cover up your small penis... a car you can't truely afford is the only answer

Will, I would seriously rethink only getting liability. You know something is going to happen and then you will be SOL. The first thing to remember when making your first car purchase is knowing your upper limit INCLUDING GAS PRICES AND INSURANCE PREMIUMS. If you can't afford a certain car including those aspects than you don't need to buy that expensive of a car. There are plenty of cars that are more economical AND have a bad ass body. If you want to make a responsible purchase out of your first car, you will get a car you can afford including insurance. That's just asking for trouble. You should know better than anyone that something can happen... Remember when your truck was hit in that hit and run? Now imagine if the driver didn't have insurance. You would have had to pay the thousands in repairs yourself.

http://www.edmunds.com/il/nissan/skyline/

2009 Nissan Skyline GT-R will finally be hitting the U.S. market the end of this year. It's only a $70k car that will compete with a $140k Porsche. Sweet fucking car. Finance the other $20k and get this if you are gonna be all big baller and shit.

ok so apparently they dropped the word skyline and now it's just called the GT-R... heh

All things considered, I'll listen to your advice over some schmuck like rabble

I might have let on that I'm being dumb and getting the first dream car that comes to mind without thinking things through. Not the case at all.

Getting liability is dumb on a car that retailed for nearly $100k, yes I agree. But I can't afford $1200/month for insurance unless I want to live in a cardboard box. Just isn't feasible at this point in my life. I can minimize the risk/reward factor of only having liability by doing a few things. One, I'm going to quit drinking. Either entirely, or limit myself to one handle of Buffalo Trace ($35) a month and get completely bombed a few weekends at the house. Right now, I spend roughly $250/month on alcohol charges - alcohol, plus a cab ride home, plus paying someone to take me to my truck the next day. It costs a lot more but it's safer that way. Right there I'd save about $215 a month. Considering liability will run me about $300/month (by my estimation), coming up with an extra $75 every month is a piece of cake. Fuck, I pay at least twice that every month because I invite fucktards over and they screw up the house. I always said I'd completely quit drinking if I had the proper motivation. Owning a car that cost half of $100k is sufficient motivation for me. Hell, I quit drinking for nearly a month when I was dating Erica, and she was a two dollar whore.

Plus, you know me and you've seen me drive. I'm a good driver. I don't speed, I don't get road rage, and when I'm not drinking and driving I never swerve; and I certainly don't show off by flooring it when the light turns green. People always accuse me of driving like an old person. I usually shrug it off then laugh at them when they get speeding tickets. Plus, I've driven fast cars before. I drove Michael Dell's NSX in high school and I've been practicing with my friend's NSX and getting used to it. They aren't hard to drive if you know what you're doing

There are only two factors that I can't take in to account - repair costs and the odds that some fuckwit with no insurance hitting me. Repairs, when they happen will be a bitch. the cost of parts will be roughly 3-4x what a domestic would cost, since the car is hand built. I'll deal with that when it happens. If some dickhead with no insurance totals my car, cost won't really be an issue - he'll be dead before the cops arrive, and I'm being dead serious

But you ARE buying the first dreamcar that comes to mind.

Liability only is stupid, you're going to be stuck with a massive repair bill when some dipshit rear ends you.

You won't stop drinking, maybe for a few months, but you'll be back to your old ways once the novelty wears off.

You're trying to rationalize your idiotic idea of buying an expensive car you can't afford.

Mark my words, If you buy an expensive car like an NSX, you will end up working at the food king trying to pay off a stack of bills a mile high.

Good luck with your purchase though.

No, I'm not. My dream car is a 1987 Buick GNX with 147 original miles on it. Sold on ebay in 2000 for $48k. Just recently sold again on ebay for $79k. Unfortunately, my dad didn't listen to me when I told him it was a sound investment. This is one of my dream cars, and a black '99 with 40k miles on it happens to be for sale and I know the owner.

Not if they have insurance. Seriously, people always talk about the risk of getting hit by someone with no insurance, but has it ever happened to you or anyone you know? I've never heard of anyone I know having that problem. The odds of it happening are extremely remote at best. And as already stated, if it happens I'll be in jail cause I'll kill the motherfucker

Yeah, I can and I will. But thanks for thinking you personally know me or anything about me to make an assessment about what I'm capable or not capable of

I already said I can afford it to the extent I'll be able to buy it outright with cash and drive away owing no money to anyone. I've said this now three times. Are you not reading what I'm writing or are you just a dumbass?

I'll go ahead and quote this so when/if I do buy it, I can come back next year and call you out for being wrong.
