In a court case you have a right to legal representation. There is no law stating you must understand your court case. I could be wrong but do not believe there is a law saying the state must provide legal representation which speaks your language. So I don't exactly see what rights are being infringed on.

edit: nm, chicken said it

Actually you DO need to know your court case. It is a HUGE violation of rights to convict someone for something without even informing them what it is, or giving them a fair chance to explain their side of the story.

Imagine if you didn't speak english, were accussed of murder, you had an alibi. How could you DEFEND yourself if no one even spoke your language? Legal representation may not need to speak spanish, but they MUST have at least a translator to help you understand your court case and have an avenue to speak in our justice system.

St. Mary's has translators?

Yup. Every Monday and Wednesday, my mom is there for 8 hours helping out. Its all volunteer work, but she enjoys it a lot. She's made friends with a lot of the Professors there. I thinks he's pushing for me to really apply to St. Mary's because of that.

I don't mind if people immigrate illegally as long as they are willing to pay taxes, work an honest living and learn our customs and language.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

You know what's funny... USAA made their employees take a cultural sensitivity class but for Americans and it was geared toward learning the Indian Culture for the vast number of Indians now working for their company.

geniune content for the pussification of america thread. we are truly the nation of tolerance. is there a stronger word for tolerance? because it seems we're way, way beyond tolerance at this point.

I thought it was pretty interesting because if you look at who the stakeholders are for USAA, its pretty interesting that they would do that and not insist that Indians working there take "Westernization" type courses.
