spiders definitely have a brain. i don't know if they feel pain or not, but see that as pretty irrelevant on deciding whether or not its ok to kill them

Basically, Aaron is right. Your whole tirade about me calling 1800's american blacks dogs was just too stupid for me to fathom. Especially when all I was doing was pointing out that both treating blacks as having no feelings and treating animals as having no feelings are equally evil. Nothing else. But typical of you to believe the blown out of proportioned version you created. And thus, you did not deserve my serious attention. I still stand by my feelings that writing dogs off as "stupid" is just as ignorant as writing black slaves off as "stupid". Seth clearly has no feelings for the animal, and that is why I called him primitive. Because there was a time when thinking there was no harm done if you killed a "stupid nigger", just as there are people today (including Seth) that believe there is no harm done if you kill "just a stupid dog". Both are appalling. And I really wonder what the hell is wrong with people who think that way.

And that might be confusing to you, because it seems Seth clearly claims he does not endorse such behavior. But lining his post with "stupid dog" is quite counter to that. I think it is absolutely disgusting that Seth places more value on this guy's "retirement and military benefits" than the "stupid dog". How do I know he places more value? Try actually reading next time if you don't know the answer to that. "I think it sucks that...." I personally don't think it sucks. I think he deserves to lose more than that because of the "stupid dog". He deserves severe punishment for such cruelty. And no amount of calling me a moron will change that.

So you are NOT comparing black civil rights to being the very SAME as dog rights... even though they are ABOUT THE EXACT SAME LINE OF THINKING? The way we viewed BLACKS is the way we view DOGS isn't a comparison between the two??? Here's another thing you can do, call the dog's killing much like the killing of the Jews in the holocaust so you can get another group in there to insult.

Here is my question to you, what if he had put his gun to the dog and just shot it? We do that to deer, coyotes, armadillos, possums, and hogs when we feel the "need" to. To me, the reason this is wrong is the motivation behind it, not what was killed. Hunters ran mammoths off cliffs to kill them in times of old, and dogs are "put down" all the time... but the intention wasn't one of cruelty. I do not condone his actions because of why he did them. But you are correct... i still do see it as a "stupid dog" because honestly... it IS just an animal. Im not for killing them, but im not exactly a bleeding heart that thinks they are the same as black people who were abused in the past.

He is saying that he does not understand how people, in modern times, do not regard dogs as "people" and think they are somehow a form of life low enough on the totem pole to "not matter". He then contrasts this with the fact that many people used to think of black people the same way as this.

HE is not comparing a black person to a dog, he's making the observation that many people used look at things this way, and that it's abhorrent.
