I usually partake in early voting so I don't have to deal with the crowds and can do it on my schedule but I decided to see what it was like to vote in the actual primary.

I headed to my precinct's station and there were about 300 Republicans standing there, flat out being told that there is no Caucus for Republicans dry.gif This, as you well know, is a lie. When I walked up to receive my ballot I was asked which side I was voting for, I replied Republican and got two of the nastiest looks I have ever seen, so much for objective volunteers.

Other things I noted, at times, they were asking "Are you Democrat or Republican?" which is the wrong question to ask. I don't know if this was underhanded or just a mistake.

Lastly, I listened to Obama's speech and have to wonder, what does he really believe. He claims that we need to get out of Iraq and need to focus on home but last night he stated, "we can change the world" blink.gif Well, not without taking part in it.

What really bugs me about Obama is how in lots of his ads he talks about "washington needs to be fixed", "we need to fix washington in order to fix America", etc etc. The strange part about him saying that is... well... uh.... Mr. Obama, weren't you part of this washington that needs to be fixed?!?

Washington can not be fixed. Corporations and special interests have enslaved America...

Notice that he didn't say that he himself is enslaved by corporations. I think his point was that politicians have grown a bit too beholden to the corporations and various other special interests that donate to them, which is true.

The Republican Party of Texas doesn't mention a caucus on their website. As far as I know, Republicans vote in the primary at the voting booth and that's how candidates are chosen.

Hey, Stephan, I'm writing a reaction piece on yesterday's primaries. Mind if I quote you on something here? Mainly the part where you talk about objective volunteers. I highly doubt what I'm writing will be published, and if it is, it will just be a local thing here in San Marcos

He said "America". I assume he's part of America. All I asked him is wtf his statement was supposed to mean. I don't really care to hear what you think he meant to say.

In primaries they are to ask you what side you are voting for, this is so they know cross-over ballots.

I heard people being asked "what party are you?", which is fine, except they were using that info to give out ballots. So even if a Republican wanted to vote Democrat they received a Democratic ballot and vice versa.

There are reports of this happening in other polling places.
