Lance, you are assuming that human are rational actors. The truth is power companies have too much to lose if everyone decided to go off the grid. So they will do everything in their power to stop and discourage a move to private household power production and use. Plus it is a lot more convenient to pay $150 a month for electricity than to buy, install, and maintain solar panels. I actually see a middle ground in that power companies may use households to generate power and rent out the solar panels. That is the true future of power generating.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?

QUOTE (Watchman @ Feb 26 2008, 01:28 PM) *
Being a slave to the power company and paying 150 bucks a month like usual, or coughing up 10k for a solar panel set-up and never paying electricity bills again... I think most sane people would choose the solar panels.

Thanks for playing though.

I remember a time when AT&T thought that no one would have a personal PC in their own home and instead would farm out their computing needs to massive supercomputers housed by AT&T on a "computing grid"... and we all know how well that worked out. Idiot.

Isn't this just the internet?

Well, what are we going to do at night? The coulomb capacitance isn't too great for any type of battery we have.
