I always hate to agree with will, but yeah, impala, you'd have never let him hear the end of it if your pick came through.

Own up. I picked the Pats too, even though I was rooting Giants.

For the umpteenth fucking time, I did not bet on this game. The thread asked to make a prediction - which I did. Impala decided to quote me so he could come in after the fact and make fun of me for being wrong. Funny thing is, I was right and his prediction of "pats will absolutely roll the giants. 38-17" was dead wrong. Figured I'd give him a chance to own up to his lousy pick (which you know he would have done to me had the Pats won) and instead he goes off on a tangent that has nothing to do with what I said. Typical impala
Are you stupid or something? READ, STUPIDASS. WE ARE NOT SAYING YOU BET ON THIS GAME. Impala is saying you bet on whatever fucking sports event like a month ago, won $30k or whatever you said, and now you act like you know everything and you are always right. Jesus Christ. No wonder you dont have a fucking degree.

That was a good one...showed lots of flying and WarMachine, but I was hoping to see The Incredible Hulk trailer.

To be honest, I only watched the first 10 minutes of the first quarter and then the 4th quarter... I spent my time watching the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. It was much more entertaining.

That shit was great. They need to design a puppy that doesn't grow up, that stays a puppy it's whole life. And put a speaker in him for good measure so I can listen to music through him.

I don't do parlays

yeah... so you threw down enough scratch (or were "good" enough for it w/your bookie) to win 10k without a parlay?? sure.

And yeah you're damn right I quoted you so I could call you out if you were wrong. So the giants beat the spread? whooptie do... "Don't question me. Ever." ... laughable. I got a question for ya, if you're so all-sports knowing and seeing, and confident about your pick, why in God's name didn't you bet on the game???

Parlays are like the lottery. Much steeper odds, more chance of random occurences ruining your bet, but with a higher payout. I could place $100/$1200 payout six team parlays all day and never win. I did some research on parlays. A parlay with an 8/1 payout usually has a 1/14 success rate. I guess its good if you want relatively decent odds if you wanna throw down a bill (higher success rate than any other form of bet with a tenfold payout) but there's too much of an element of chance

I threw $880 on the giants not bc I was confident with my pick (even though I was), but to protect my investment of $800 at 7/2 odds in the preseason. I would have either won $2500 or so or lost $888 (pick plus 11% rip). I took the giants to either win $1700 roughly, or lose $8. I lost $8

Although I don't understand how you "threw $880 on the giants" when not a few posts back you said "for the umpteenth time" you did not bet on this game...

Yes, I did wager on the game. Not to win money, but to protect myself from losing money.

I had an $800 futures bet on the Patriots winning the Super Bowl from this summer. 7/2 odds. Two scenarios could have happened:

I win $2492 if the Patriots win [$800 x (7/2) = $2800 - $308 (11% commission)]
I lose $800 if the Patriots lose

So, I bet $880 on the Giants, giving me two new scenarios:

I win $1612 ($2492 for the Pats bet - $880 for losing the Giants bet)
I lose $16.80 (lose $800 on the Pats bet and win $783.20 on the Giants bet after commission)

Regardless of the potential winnings, I'd rather lose $16 and change than $800. Plus, I had a bad feeling about the game.

Well I didn't place any parlays on the game, which is what you said. I didn't consider it betting so much as saving my ass from losing $800. I started to get a bad feeling about the game a few days after the NFC/AFC championships. I made my pick here before I placed the bet
