If you aren't familiar with the concept: http://www.43folders.com/izero
Basically, you keep your inbox count at 0. I started doing this about a month ago and really, really like it. I have a slightly more elaborate folder setup since I need to keep client e-mails separate but the concept is the same. I do not leave my e-mail open and only check it every few hours. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I don't keep my inbox count at 0, but I rarely let more than 15-20 accumulate. Both with personal and work email. People who have hundreds of emails in their inbox confuse me.

Yep that's my system, except I have the "action" in there as well (add appointment to a calendar, finish a piece something I need to do, etc.). -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

Here at work I have several different folders and rules set up, but at home I just leave em. /shrug. I use outlook w/gmail and have the setting "leave msgs on server" so if I reformat my comp or anything like that I don't lose all my old mail. I don't get all that much email though really.

Interesting. I usually try to do that, but sometimes I have a few accumulate.

I used to be so anal about my inbox, and I had the 0 system going on with a bunch of folders. Then, my account which is with yahoo started getting madd spam so now I have like 800 emails in my inbox. Whatever. I was just pissed off the day i went to my account and they had deleted everything...including the shit in folders; but 2 days later I already had 200 emails again. Seems they deleted my emails but not the fucking problem. My texas state account is too much to handle as far as folders since just about everything i get is important. I just delete what isnt important.

I guess I get too much e-mail for me not to use a system like this. I hover around 500 work e-mails a day and maybe 10-20 personal e-mails. Of the work e-mails I get only 2-3% actually pertain to me.

That's a lot! I got a lot more emails at my last job than here (I get < 6/day, typically), but nowhere close to 500. Maybe 100 if things were really in a panic. -------------------- |

I do "Unread Zero".
Leave everything in the inbox unless I have a filter to catch it (ie, school), but just mark it as read. -------------------- WAIT. I'm not finished.
