I don't think it's broken, but I can't even wiggle it at all and it hurts like a masturbated embryo riding on a wave of apathetic sperm horsies.
OUCH! god damn that shit hurt. I didn't drop it from very far, maybe knee height cuz I was bringing it down to my knee from doing military press with it, and I strained myself too hard and tried to drop it down away from my head to land kinda on my knee but i fucked up and my hand slipped off it and it fell down the front of my leg and kinda rolled end over and and nailed my right big toe ouch -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

RICE that's for a strain... you don't want to compress swelling from a break from what i understand. hence why they put you in a temp for a couple of days before they cast you. REST ICE COMPRESSION ELEVATION its a toe... if you go to the dr, they will usually just tape it unless its a bad break. make sure you can feel the tip of the toe. If at any time, the circulation becomes poor, go in. Stay off the foot as much possible, elevate, and use ice the first 48 hours. stay on a nice regiment if tylenol (hydrocodone or vicodin if you have it... as long as it's acetametaphyn based). keep the toe stabalized and wear very loose and comfortable shoes when you have to. |

Seriously man be careful. You're lucky you're not ripping a rotator cuff and/or dropping it on your friggin head.

Um, I was a student Athletic Trainer for about 8-9 years....and it's what I want to get my masters in. RICE works even with a jammed toe. Hence why when you twist your ankle you're told not to take off the shoe until necessary (serves as compressive force). You WOULDNT use it for something like a severe break where the skin has been breached (the ICE portion, you would use compression and elevation because you need to slow the bleeding). What do you think the taping is (that you suggested the doctor might do)? Its compression. wrapping done by him would serve more as a stabilization rather than compression. By compression we're talking a gentle wrapping, perhaps with an ACE bandage....not tight, constricting wrapping with athletic tape. He needs to be checking for swelling, bruising, and tenderness. Also ROM, which he apparently already did by trying to move it. But yeah...sounds like a break from what he's given so far. |

Im just saying you don't compress a break. You stabilize it. Seems like we are on the same page with that though.
