I recently was searching around on ebay for DTS Demo DVDs and such, and found and purchased a demo disc for $24.99 in a buy out auction. The listing is gone now and I can only see it in my "won auctions" section, but here's the text:

QUOTE
The Ultimate DTS and THX Demo DVD

In 1993, Steven Spielberg Release the Mega-Blockbuster film Jurassic Park marking the first commercial release of the crisp and clear sound of DTS. This ground breaking sound format changed the way moviegoers would experience film in a theater and later at home. Currently there are over 24,000 DTS equipped theaters worldwide and thousands of DVD and HD-DVD titles have been encoded with the DTS format.

This DVD is an awesome demonstration of the DTS and THX sound formats. It Comes in A slim DVD case for protection. Enjoy!!

Included on this Custom made DVD:

DTS and THX sound
Anamorphic widescreen
13 THX Trailers: Wings, Broadway, Cimarron, Grand, The Simpsons, Tex, Tex-2, Moo-Can, Broadway 2000, Tex EX, Jungle, Cavalcade, Terminator 2
THX WOW (This THX "WOW" disc is considered as one of the "holy" grails of LD collectors. The "WOW!" sequence is the most important part of the disc: a large trailer containing scenes from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow, and finishing with the Cimarron THX trailer.)
9 DTS Movie Clips: Jurassic Park, Minority Report, Bourne Identity, The Fast and the Furious, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Ep 1, Band of Brothers, What a Blast, Eric Clapton Unplugged.
4 DTS Trailers: Digital Experience A, Digital Experience B, Experience C, Sonic Landscape
All Regions

* Note* Your Receiver must be able to decode DTS in order to Enjoy the DTS bitstream. This DVD has not been compressed so that you will enjoy the full audio and video presentation uncompromised. This DVD was never available at retail but rather is copy of a custom compilation of DTS and THX trailers and clips with custom menu's that will rock your system to the core. I am not responsible for any liver or spleen damage done by the low frequency of this DVD. And don't come crying to me if you get evicted from your apartment. It will come on a high quality DVD with a slimcase for protection.

I also don't charge for outrageous shipping charges in or outside the country, nor do I tack on those bogus 'Handling Fees'

and there's a bunch of sample pics of the film clips and THX logos and stuff in the ebay ad too.

I just received it and was surprised to see it was a plain old memorex DVD+R. This disc has several very nice THX trailers and DTS movie clips. While it is nice and I enjoy it, this seems highly illegal to me for this guy to be selling clips of movies like star wars, indiana jones, etc. The end of the THX WOW trailer claims "clips from star wars, etc, etc provided courtesey of Lucasfilm". I would find it very hard to believe that lucasfilm (not to mention all the other movies mentioned) authorized this guy to use their clips and make money off of them on ebay.

While I myself don't claim to be a saint when it comes to stuff like downloading music or whatever, I draw the line at making money off of piracy, and if that's what this guy is doing, I will get with ebay to make sure this guy never makes another dime off of it.

What do you guys think? Legal or Illegal?
