So we just had a long philosophical discussion about the possibilities of other intelligent life, and how they would appear to us if they chose to come here. Lots of interesting discussion. IMHO, if another species wanted to visit us and make contact, it would happen just as we see it described here. They would study us, then probably reveal themselves to our highest forms of government/society, and when those informed felt the population was ready, there'd be an announcement. Anyhow, should be interesting to see what you people think.
