Dear Friends and Supporters:
On December 11, Texas Tech University was cited for insufficient reporting of general education data by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), only one of the agency's 87 standards for accreditation. Despite the unfortunate message this announcement sends to alumni, students and friends like you, there was no fault found with the quality of any academic program at Texas Tech University according to SACS. I have personally spoken with Dr. Wheelan, President of SACS, and she assured me that Texas Tech University remains in good standing with SACS and that she is confident the reporting requirement will be satisfied at their next meeting in December 2008. I guarantee that Texas Tech University is not in jeopardy of losing accreditation with this agency, or the more than 25 other accrediting agencies that presently hold us in high standing. University officials and I are doing everything in our power to rectify this situation, reaffirm your confidence in this fine institution and protect its excellent reputation. Respectfully, Kent Hance -------------------- ![]() |
