I think this points out a much more glaring problem in our country. That living in the here and now and grasping at money is the way to do things. The idea that our children will inherit our problems seems to skip right over our generation. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

keep in mind that the people that have lost their lives in previous wars (i'm talking about world wars) were fighting for a different world...a world that changed
life was different then and people had more respect for politics and democracy now the only thing that is important is who is tila tequila going to pick to be her one night love slave or which laguna beach girl is going to get pregnant we're greedy, selfish, and arrogant and it will be the end of us -------------------- "Ah, y'know it's funny, these people they go to sleep, they think everything's fine, everything's good. They wake up the next day and they're on fire."

we're greedy, selfish, and arrogant and it will be the end of us If by we you mean the entire world past or present, I would agree with this... I don't think that us Americans are any different than anybody else around the world, ask a starving African, and I guarantee that he would take the money! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And Epic is right, think about how much more good you could do with 1000000 dollars than a single vote. You have to weigh the pros and cons. Well I cast a single vote in a sea of millions for a candidate I like but could ptentially end up making some of the worst decisions under his/her presidency that I don't agree with, or I could vaccinate thousands of needy Africans for malaria... Whether one decides to use all or part of his money to do this is irrelevant, I think that helping/saving one person easily outweighs my right to vote... I would find it rather difficult to believe if (in another hypothetical) someone was dying and it was proposed that you could save this person's life, but you only have to give up the right to vote you would say "no, my belief in "democratic" principles and my participation in this process is way too important for me..." And I don't understand why you (Psycopath) wouldn't agree with the above statement(s) because in another thread you were championing an effort of good deeds outweighing an ideological message. This is, in essence, the same thing... -------------------- ![]() |
