I think this points out a much more glaring problem in our country. That living in the here and now and grasping at money is the way to do things. If you honestly feel that we live in a true democracy governed by the people and your vote/opinion matters that much, that is another story, but the truth is we don't live in this utopian democratic society (how else could we still be in Iraq when the publics support is overwhelmingly against it?)... Also, if you think that other generations wouldn't do the same thing, you would be sorely mistaken (I'm sure a lot of our great great grandparents would have given up their right to vote to find Gold out West!). Greed has been prevalent regardless of what century you live in... And on the whole "all the people died to give me that right" I would image that the soldiers who are indirectly protecting our right to vote would/would have personally give(n) up their voting rights in return for a guaranteed safe passage home...everyone has their price... --------------------  |
