DARDENNE PRAIRIE, Mo. (AP) - Megan Meier thought she had made a new friend in cyberspace when a cute teenage boy named Josh contacted her on MySpace and began exchanging messages with her. Megan, a 13-year-old who suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder, corresponded with Josh for more than a month before he abruptly ended their friendship, telling her he had heard she was cruel.

The next day Megan committed suicide. Her family learned later that Josh never actually existed; he was created by members of a neighborhood family that included a former friend of Megan's.

This is pretty horrible. Stupid parents...I'd give them a lot of prison time for this.

i don't see why it matters that she was being manipulated by an adult. she didn't know she was talking to an adult, so what would it matter if the myspace friend was 13 or 50? there are 13 year olds who could probably get some depressed loser (teen or adult) to kill themselves.


i hope her parents feel responsible for this. they let their retard child talk to strangers on the internet. no different than letting diabetic kids loose in a candy store.
