On October 1st, Austin implemented a leash law for dogs. Dogs cannot be chained or teathered, and must either 1. be in an enclosed cage area, 2. be fenced in, or 3. be "invited into the family home" (their dumbfuck PC wording, not mine).

What a stellar law. Either spend several thousand building a backyard fence, or invite an outside dog inside and watch your "family home" get demolished by a $125 animal. I have no idea what moronic rights group came up with this genius idea, but it's the most impractical thing I've ever heard of. The only thing they offer is "partial financial aid" to low income families for fencing. Yeah, I'm sure Pedro is gonna be able to afford a brand new fence on a roofer's salary. Austin has a ton of leashed dogs. Most people around here own big dogs and keep them tethered in the backyard. And now, the government expects everyone to build a fence or watch their home value plummet. And in typical government fashion, they expect everyone to abide but offer little to no aid to assist them. I'm sure this law came about because some animal rights groups complained that a couple of inbreds in Cedar Park had their pit bulls chained to the bumper of their Ford Pinto in the front yard. Guess what - there are always a few meatheads around who use towing chains to tie a dog up. The other 95% of the people whose family trees fork tie them up in a more than humane manner

The fuck if I'm gonna build a fence for my dog. We live on the golf course and the backyard view is beautiful. Hank is on a very light 40 foot chain. He pretty much has free roam in the backyard. If I actually wanted to fo abide by the law, I could put him in his 6 foot by 8 foot cage where he can hardly walk around, let alone run. But that would be incredibly inhumane.

If I EVER get ticketed for this, I'm fighting it in court. I'll represent myself and appeal every time I lose. I'll waste so much of their money and tie up the court for so long maybe it'll teach them a lesson about complete infeasible laws.

That is kind of stupid...

I mean, I would think putting the dog in a cage would be worse than leashing it.
