Ok, so I'm looking for a good video player for OS X. I'm basically using my laptop to stream video off of my computer upstairs off my wireless network (which I know is far from being a perfect setup to begin with).

My only problem is that I can't seem to find a media player that fits all my needs.

I like how MPlayer X has separate applications so that I can have the controls on my computer and the playback on the TV, but playback is pretty choppy.

VLC would be perfect except for the fact that whenever I go into fullscreen mode, the playback goes to my laptop screen instead of my TV.

Quicktime would also be perfect, but it just doesn't support enough file formats.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure that I am completely following you but I used to connect my PowerBook to my TV via S-Video to watch movies and I used VLC. You can choose which device VLC plays to fullscreen under the video menu somewhere I believe. Also, I think I remember someone saying that whichever screen you have the VLC controller on is the one that will play fullscreen. Never tried that though. Hope that helps or I am even on the same page as you.

Hmmm... didn't look under the video menu. I did find perian though which seems to work pretty well to get quicktime to play more movie formats.

Miro is also a pretty good media player (too lazy to find the link).

But I'll test out VLC and see if I'm missing something.

Thanks for the help.
