things work depending on how you treat them - so it doesn't surprise me that someone who hates apple products would have their's break in 3 months.  Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Youre wrong on the mp3 market. irivers, rios, and creatives have been on the market for jsut as long and they had considerable storage sizes.

Will hardly used his mp3 player. He left it in a special case, never dropped it, and treated it exactly as it should have been treated. The software on it froze and he couldnt turn it on or off. So maybe you shouldnt incenuate.

Lastly, I think Mr. Lament has you beat on this one. You frequently post about ipods but seem to have little to no knowledge of other mp3 players. Hell, you really dont even know much about ipods. A great example of this was your completely wrong idea of how lithium ion batteries work that you posted on the old boards.

If a person is treating their ipod correctly, there is still a pretty good possibility that something could go wrong with it. Have you not heard all the complaints with the new Nano's. The two ipods that I have had experience with both went out from the same problem which was not due to physical abuse, but rather product malfunction. Rarely do I hear of someone having an ipod as long as you have and not having problems. You are lucky.
