I encourage you all to vote people into office who will shut off even more of this country to development, so we're in an even tighter pinch for natural resources to feed our own economy. This way, we can help China become the dominate economy in the world, and for at least the next 10 or 15, we can feel like we "saved the environment" until China comes and takes us over then develops OUR natural resources for themselves and our entire way of life has been banned! YAY! -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

It's not like we're not drilling. We're just not drilling the huge wells on our land. Believe it or not, we SELL oil to china. And we sell a lot. By drilling everyone else's oil and not drilling our own, we are securing our future in energy. Yes, it's costing us more right now, but later you're going to appreciate the reasoning behind this when we're still the richest country and everyone else is struggling to prosper because they can't afford OUR oil.
Yes, we could tap out our cheap oil now instead of spending the money to get the stuff across the world in Iraq or the really expensive stuff 15,000 ft under the ocean. So what? For short run gains? The price of gas drops by a dollar for a few years? And then when China is running at full capacity and they REALLY want oil, then what? Then we'll be competing for oil even more so than we are now. I say we take as many wells as we can now, and leave our stuff for ourselves later. We're not desperately hurting for oil, so we can afford to hoard. -------------------- ![]() |

How much oil does the US export, if we're importing an estimated %60 of the crude we refine? We started on-shore drilling in this country again about 10 years ago after a 20 year haitus. We are not securing shit by not developing our own natural resources other than our own economic demise. Mark my words. You can't win by not playing the game, and right now, we're getting out played by a lot of countries.... -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!

The company I work for has more projects than they know what to do with (trees, blow out preventers, manifolds, etc). I do not understand how we are getting more orders than we can handle and yet at the same time we're "not in the game". I'm thinking you don't know what you're talking about. Oil field supply companies wouldn't be growing as fast as they are if what you're saying is true. Look at Cameron's and Weatherford's stock as of late. Earnings for both of these supply companies are doing great despite market down turn. Who are they selling to? I don't know about weatherford, but we aren't selling to any chinese companies. So what are our customers doing with all this multimillion dollar equipment if they aren't using it? Do you think BP and Exxon buy this stuff to sit around and look pretty? Put 2 and 2 together and stop preaching baseless fear. -------------------- ![]() |

Put 2 and 2 together and stop preaching baseless fear. Ask some of your supervisors where they were 6 years ago. Cameron, Weatherford, nobody was doing near as well then as they are right now. You're basing your observations on what you've seen in 6 months, I'm basing mine off what I've seen the last 15 years. Once the boom wears off because some asshole the public elected is doing everything they can to shut off drilling operations in the continental US and they want to ship you to Pakistan to work, maybe you'll remember some of the things I've said, because rest assured, it'll happen sooner or later -------------------- I r Ur Gawd!
