Natural family planning is the practice of supposed birth control by abstaining from sex during the days of the month when the woman is fertile. It has a fairly high failure rate, but is the only method of birth control approved by the Catholic church.

Well, if used faithfully and properly it doesn't have as high a failure rate as one would expect since it's commonly misconstrued as just another name for the rhythm method.

But I am very aware that this idea is neither convenient or appealing to everyone and it's a personal choice that my fiance and I have made together that we believe will help enrich our marriage... which I think is probably a pretty good idea.

I do see the philosophical appeal of NFP, but I take issue with some of the logical underpinnings of the concept. Regardless, it sounds like you and your fiance will have a very happy marriage. May you successfully delay spawning for as long as you wish!
