I have to say, I think the brushed metal looks cool but I don't like the black around the screen.

The new keyboard looks pretty sweet but I wonder how sturdy it will be.

The only reason Apple's are more expensive is because of their design. That's it. The hardware has nothing to do with it.


I've bought my last Apple computer. I'm royally pissed at their marketing techniques. They release a "new" mac with really old hardware and 6 months later release an upgrade with still...really old hardware. All of their computers come with a one year warranty. You have to pay to have it upgraded to 3 years. My iMac has a 3 year warranty but the fucking thing doesn't cover the screen. That's completely separate. Their computers can't be upgraded (unless you buy a pro and the price starts at 2500). If you want to upgrade you have to do it through Applecare where it costs you 9 million dollars in parts and service. Apple has special ram for their machines.My dad bought a macbook pro through macmall and they gave him something like a free 1gb ram upgrade. Of course they put 3rd party ram in there because it's ridiculously inexpensive now. When my dad's screen fucked up he took it into apple and they told him they wouldn't touch it because he has 3rd party ram in there and not Apple ram. He agreed to have it switched out for Apple ram which cost something like 300 dollars and then they told him while his computer was being repaired that he had to "buy" a new laptop. So he seriously had to front upwards of 3000 or more to have his computer fixed ( and the thing still runs like crap). To top it all off, when he bought his computer he was asked if he wanted to upgrade his warranty to some shit called "Pro service". He agreed to it (it cost around 199) and figured his computer was covered under a 3 year apple warranty. When he took it in they told him he didn't have the upgraded Applecare and the repair would've cost him about as much as a new laptop.


I can build a top of the line PC for around 1000 or less and it will last me 3+ years. I can ORDER a top of the line Mac for 1500 - 2000 and have it last 6 months.
