Ok, sometimes I have hard time understanding the american law. Please go on and read the following article about this incidents:

according to this page here's what happened
1. State Rep. Bob Allen enters the toilet, from his acts it seems that he's looking for a sexual partner.
2. The officer says ""Well look, man, I'm trying to make some money; you think you can hook me up with 20 bucks?"
3. Allen accepts. The officer asks what he has to do, and says "do you want just [oral sex]?"
4. Allen replies "I was thinking you would want one"
5. Officer replies "but you'll still give me the 20 bucks for that", Allen accepts.

Now for a moment forget that he's a State Rep and whether you'd vote for him or not. What was exactly illegal? The guy was looking for a sexual partner, all people do that, and doing it in a public place is not illegal. He didn't try to force the officer. And it was the officer who actually *asked* for money. So the problem is that he accepted?

Now imagine that you're flirting with a girl in a bar, trying to get her in bed and she asks for 20bucks, or better she asks you to pay her a couple of drinks. What would you do?

So I guess the problem is that the guy is gay, and we don't like gay people, and that he's a State Rep, and we want State Reps to be saints, not gays. I wish we'd care more about the real criminals who are in the office and not the gay people with urges.
