basically the thing is an external video card/kb/mouse port, with four friggin outputs, each one capable of supporting a monitor at 1920x1200. Connects to a PCI-express card inside the comp via a fiber optic cable (up to 820ft from the comp!). Mainly for easy access to server rooms/etc by businesses, but hell most of the coolest home stuff starts that way. I.e. put the noisy, hot computers in a vented closet and just have a little fiber optic port in each room you want a comp in lancifer.gif innocent.gif

Right. That's what I just questioned. If your network is isolated, then how is that any less secure than extra long video cables (and, presumably, keyboard/mouse cables)? You're trading three extra long cables for one extra long cat 5 (or whatever the standard is now) cable.
