I agree totally with Testmonkey on why kids become addicted to sugar, caffeine, tv and lets not forget, HUGE portions. When I was 8, I remember having to be told to at least finish the meat out of my Happy Meal ( on the rare occassion that we got them as a treat) because I almost never finished the whole thing, fries, drink and all.

I see elementary aged children all the time now who can finish an entire combo meal and still have room for a hot fudge sundae. Meanwhile, their parents are finishing off super size combos.

I think portion sizes, and the average persons perception of a proper portion has really changed in the last 10 or so years. Parents are unknowingly serving oversized portions, and that's what children are learning to be normal.

more like 30 years. I was eating hungry-man TV dinners, drinking big ass big gulps, and ordering super sized McD's in the early/mid-80's, so it had to happen way before that.

more blame society bullshit...it's not the portion size, it's the lack of physical activity.
