Sen. McCain says we should let the market and technology solve the Net-neutrality issue: “When you control the pipe you should be able to get profit from your investment.”

Now he's against net neutrality.

No. Net Neutrality is quite necessary.

QUOTE
What is Net Neutrality?

Network neutrality is the principle that Internet users should be in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. The Internet has operated according to this neutrality principle since its earliest days. Indeed, it is this neutrality that has allowed many companies, including Google, to launch, grow, and innovate. Fundamentally, net neutrality is about equal access to the Internet. In our view, the broadband carriers should not be permitted to use their market power to discriminate against competing applications or content. Just as telephone companies are not permitted to tell consumers who they can call or what they can say, broadband carriers should not be allowed to use their market power to control activity online. Today, the neutrality of the Internet is at stake as the broadband carriers want Congress's permission to determine what content gets to you first and fastest. Put simply, this would fundamentally alter the openness of the Internet.

The essence of net neutrality is to prevent providers like AT&T only allowing users to view Yahoo sites and searches because they own the company. Same thing would go for AOL and only allowing AOL content to be viewed. Net providers have slowly been moving towards this. You'll see that yahoo has its own music and video services as well as AOL and some other providers. If we can't keep the internet neutral then service providers can completely weed out content and applications they don't support or like. Not only that, but they'll be able to charge you for extra premiums. You can pay a basic price that only allows you to view certain services. You'll have to pay top dollar to have full access to the internet.

Whoever is not for net neutrality is a poophead.
