I saw this photo essay on Time, and thought it was pretty interesting comparing what the world eats in a week. It was fairly obvious that Americans and Europeans eat the most processed foods and the least amount of fruits and vegetables.

My personal diet probably resemble the Melander family of Bargteheide (in smaller quantities of course), of mostly vegetables, grains/pasta, and meats.

James, do you eat organic or just run of the mill stuff at the store?

I have been trying to eat organic but it's expensive. There is a Whole Foods nearby and they have a good selection, but again, it's expensive.

I eat a few things organic, but mostly regular food. I agree, organics are more expensive. I mostly choose the organic stuff on occasion for taste, not for food safety or whatever. If you google you can find a list of produce (there was some study in Men's Health) that says which items are worth buying organic, and which are like throwing away your money. For instance, because of the thick skin on bananas it is pointless to buy them organic. You can tell a difference in taste though, I was shocked at how great organic tomatoes tasted compared to regular.

My diet consists of:

breakfast- a smoothie with 1 banana, some frozen blueberries, a spoonful of natural peanut butter, some natural honey, and water

Lunch- leftovers or whatever I can find in the fridge, today was 2 grilled chicken breasts

Dinner- some kind of meat (chicken breasts, steak, beef or turkey patties, fish), and some kind of veggie (asparagus, eggplant, acorn squash, tomatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers) or we might make some kind of vegetable casserole sometimes.

I also keep almonds in my desk at work to snack on, or snack on a banana at home.
