So it looks like the Cotton Kings will not be playing in Lubbock anymore. They are looking at San Angelo and a couple other cities. The city refuses to negotiate with them.
Why does the city want to run off the only minor league franchise that has been in Lubbock consistently? Wouldn't they want to keep the team in town? Every time I hear something about Lubbock its always negative, things like this don't help it all. Plus if the Cotton Kings leave then we lose the only ice facility in Lubbock. Unless the club team raises enough money to pay for ice upkeep they will probably screwed, it sucks that they are affected by the council's stupidity. http://www.lubbockonline.com/updates/update3.shtml |

Lubbock is just greedy, and they never support anything good in the city.
I wouldn't be surprised if Tech relocated to San Angelo too with the recent news of San Angelo State University joining the Tech system. I know that won't happen, but one can dream. |

ASU will be part of our system, one thing we guaranteed them is that they we will not change their name. The biggest reason for us to affiliate with them is to raise our standing with the state. Now that we have another school under our system we can ask for money and we can start to compete will UT and TAMU on systemwide grants for research etc. Also the Ag depts will get access to each others facilities. The new chancellor (Hance) has stated that he wants to profile of Tech academically and possibly make us a flagship institution and this will help us. |
