Agreed. I've never spent more than a few days at a time in Abilene, but it seems to have all of the great qualities of Lubbock (friendly people, good size, little traffic, weather, cost of living) without many of the not-so-great qualities (dry county, relatively isolated, etc.).
I'd live there. The only negative (relatively minor) that I can think of is that you might have fewer options as far as air travel in and out of the city. Apparently the only major carriers that service the airport are Continental Express and American Eagle, and they just fly to and from Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. |
