Yes, I agree that the two-party system has monopolized American politics. I'd love to see a few more strong, viable third-parties arise in the next decade. Do not forget, Spivey, that PR systems have their fair share of problems as well. The system of 'muddling through' only works so long as there is a working, stable alliance between parties of the 'majority.' A small shift either way can lead to a complete collapse in the operation of a government, thereby leading to either the drawn out and difficult process of a whole slew of new elections or simply a government that gets absolutely nothing accomplished until the next regularly scheduled elections.

No system is perfect.

i don't think anyone really thinks a vote is worthless, so much as a sure loss in certain areas. which is how it should be, it's how we get proper representation.

obviously no system is perfect, but the people that do nothing but sit back and bag on our system of government aren't looking at the big picture. we are the most powerful country on the planet. we're one of the most sought after countries to live in. we have the most diverse population. our citizens arguably live better than any others. our GDP is the highest (by far). our country has risen to this status, in the blink of an eye compared to any country within a spitball shot of us. i find it pretty hard to believe that our system of government is so badly broken for us to have achieved what we have.
