So, I've decided to work out a new backup plan and thought I would share.
1. I am using a 320GB LaCie drive to do manual backups once a week (or whenever I feel it's a necessity). 2. Amazon S3 (talked about it before) is what I am using for remote backups in conjunction with JungleDisk and rsync to make incremental backups once a month or whenever I need to. 3. A monthly DVD that is burned of all important data (e-mail, documents, etc.) I also upload my photos to flickr but only some of them, I will back all of them up in the original form to S3. I am going to be trying this setup out over the next few months and seeing how it works. The only part I cannot automate is the burning of the DVD but I am working on that. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

i guess that wouldn't be too bad if you're splitting bills with someone. that is pretty damn fast though. it'll be nice when we get some faster options in lubbock.

Well, we run a company, so it's a company bill. I just don't keep track of it, my business partner does. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |

I just don't keep track of it, my business partner does. what kind of business? i have problem uploading my data to a third party storage service, that just leaves the door wide open for privacy violations and hd-dvd will win out over blu-ray just like vhs won out over betamax, and for the same reasons agreed and agreed (go pr0n industry!) |
