I wouldn't be so disillusioned to say that I would do all those things at the heat of the moment, unfortunately, but damn, it sorta saddens me that when the police hits, they don't hit back Protestors will ALWAYS outnumber police. Meh.

we are a nation of chaos, not a nation of anarchy. i think that one of the great points of the way our system was designed is the ability for the public to protest the government to inspire change. not the active idea of trying to over throw it.

The French have a history of bloody revolution. In America, we elect new officials if we are unhappy with the government. In France, they start revolutions/protest to change their governments. In most cases, these overthrows are quite violent in nature. Europeans (not including British/Germans), usually don't have a problem with questioning authority, laws etc. We follow in the tradition of the British, who usually have peaceful transitions of power/ obey laws on some moral standing.

The only war that I can think of where the French were "split" was world war 2. That was due to two different factions in France. One was the catholic, conservative, jew hating French who sided with Hitler. The other was of course the secularist, communist, and the liberals who fought Hitler. They have a history of revolutions, this much is true but when push comes to shove the French will band together to fight off enemies. The stereotype of the cowardly French is undeserved. Just because they do not agree on all policy issues with the United States and follow their own interests does not make them cowards.
