Hey I just got an external USB hard drive. It's a SATA hard drive and when I plug it in windows reads it as a cdrom drive for whatever reason. So I can't format it, or access it. The only thing i can think of is that it's not formatted or doesn't have a partition table. Anyone got any suggestions?

is it one of those that you load a hdd into the casing? Try to load it empty and see if it loads<edit>as a cdrom. If it still does its the usb-cid. And software provided should deal with it.</edit>

No, it came with the hd already in the casing. An there was no software provided with it, you're supposed to plug it in and it's supposed to work.
