Gravity is inescapable. There is no point in the universe where you are not atleast a little affected by an object's gravity. I do not understand how the universe could possibly be constantly accelerating, unless there is an outward force on each object in space (which you would be hard pressed to prove). What I can see is when everything explodes, there is a period of accleration, but the universe's center of gravity slows all outward bound objects until it comes to a rest, and then falls back towards that center (and clumping up with other space objects along the way).

The reason I can see this happening is there are two types of forces acting here. One is a pulse force or conservative force, the big bang. The other is an nonconservative force, gravity. The thing about the big bang is it puts an accerlation on all objects, and then stops. Gravity puts a constant acceleration on all objects. So if you have a constant C accerlation on all objects from the big bang, and then -X acceleration from gravity (negative because it's in the opposite direction), and assuming C is initially greater than X (which it has to be), you get C - X at time 1, C - 2X at time 2, C - 3X at time 3, etc. And since these are all acclerations, at anytime C - bX, where b is that incremental time constant, is greater than 0, you would have accerlation. However, once it becomes less than 0, the universe begins to collapse back into itself.

The kicker is, however, as distance becomes greater, gravity becomes exponentially weaker (so X is not a constant, but decaying as time goes on as well). But it never goes away, and because of that, the kinetic energy of the universe is being drained back into potential energy.

So actually, I would just like to know how it is possible the universe is constantly accelerating. You cannot create energy from nothing. And if the universe is constantly accerlating, kinetic energy is increasing for no reason at all.

Yeah, honestly i always thought the way you did, but on naked science, the guy said that through studies and stuff they have determined that outward objects are actually speeding up, not slowing down. So either they just did the wrong calculations or there is something else we haven't discovered yet for the speeding up.
