went to best buy today, they currently have an insane financing deal in the home theater dept. No interest until Jan 2010 on purchases over $999. 36 months folks... crazy.

i got my new TV and an Xbox 360

LCDs = awesome but overpriced and cant get em as big as others
DLP = the shit, decent price, can get giant sizes, awesome features, no burn in ever

right now the DLP title is arguably between three different brands- Sony SXRD, Samsung, & Toshiba

Plasmas are NOT heavy. In fact, they are very light. I could lift a 50" plasma by myself. Huge? Umm they are flat panel... DLP's are huge. They are hot, ill give you that. burn in? dont be a retard and leave your tv on for 2 days straight....cuz thats how long it takes. overpriced? they have come down in price significantly. Plasma technology has advanced a lot in the past 2 years. Whereas the average lifespan of a plasma used to be 5 years...its now 10-12. The best LCD tv is no way as near as nice as a pioneer plasma. End of discussion. If you think differently, then you are retarded.

like zetec said stock/sports tickers and such will do it, but the worst are actually the network logos. and i didn't say plasmas easily burn in, i just said they can. DLPs & LCDs cannot burn in.

so for $120 more, you get nearly 20" less screen, the resolution of a $150 LCD computer monitor, and an extra couple square feet and 18 lbs of room to put stuff on the tv stand (tv stand space is such a huge problem nowadays). unless you plan to mount the plasma on the wall, in which case, enjoy the $400 wall mount and hope you have studs where you want your TV
