Finally decided to upgrade my home-built computer. I just installes a new 160 gig hard drive to add to the 250 I already have. I want to add two more sticks of 256 ram to make a gig (i know, I should have done this a long time ago). I have a couple of questions.

1) Power supply: Mine is only 380 watts. Should I upgrade that too? Can I wait to upgrade until I get the new ram or should I now since I just added the new hard drive? I dont know shit about power.

2) Ram has to be added in equal increments, right? I currently have 2 sticks of pc3200 ddr sdram 256 mb so im at 512 total. If i wanted to add two sticks of 512 to give me a 1.5 gigs could I do that instead of adding 2 more 256 to equal a total gig? Are there motherboard/processor limits that could play a role in how much ram im allowed to add? pc3200 ddr only comes in 184 pin, right?

If my questions dont make much sense, sorry. I dont know shit about power or ram. Any info you could give me would be great.

THANKS

realistically, there's not a huge speed difference between them (at the moment), but SATA has the potential for much higher speeds, and i believe (i may be wrong, i don't have SATA) more possible devices per channel.

Right now the biggest difference is that SATA drives take one tiny cable instead of the giant ribbon connectors ATA drives take. It keeps airflow in your case a lot nicer, as well as aesthetics.

WAIT. I'm not finished.
