wow... you think "free speech" means you can say whatever you want and not face SOCIAL reprecussions?
Free speech applies to the governments ability to prosecute someone for expressing their beliefs. Clearly not the case here... This is somoeone being racist and the public being against him. Oh and the words we say usually have attached history that make them so much more insulting than a noraml "bitch" or "fuckwad". Lack of equal rights helped to build the nature of the word being horrible. Cracker, no matter how you try to say it (trying to insult or as a joke) can NEVER hold the same meaning. So no, none of the black people alive were slaves... but how about civil rights? How about lynchings not but 50 or 60 years ago... What does any of that matter? The word holds meaning because of its history as a word, if you can't recognize that... then say it to most blacks and see the response. Some won't care, some will get very offended... im willing to bet it leans offended though. |
